In August 2024 I had the privilege of participating in the Taxi Cultural Mobility Program, which brought me to the Gagauzian village of Gaidar. This village is celebrated for its rich tradition of carpet-making, a heritage that is showcased every year during the Carpet Festival.Inspired by Gaidar’s vibrant cultural legacy, I embarked on a creative journey to merge traditional carpet patterns with my analogue photographs taken during my stay. Through close collaboration with the local Museum of History and Traditions, I captured images of carpets and embroidery, many of which were crafted by local women years ago.The culmination of this work resulted in 16 unique collages that were exhibited at the Carpet Festival. These collages represent a dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary, weaving together the visual language of the past with my photographic explorations.
